Google Acquires Frommers Travel Guide Service
Google has announced it is acquiring Frommer’s, the travel brand owned by John Wiley Sons Inc., for an undisclosed amount in a bid to bolster the web search giant’s offerings of local reviews all over the world.
Frommer’s provides information from a variety of destinations globally from restaurants to hotels, with its content deemed valuable for Google. The G sees Frommer’s as an opportunity to expand its local reviews database outside the restaurant reviews.
The acquisition is expected to be sealed quite soon. Google has yet to decide whether to allow Frommer’s continue to publish its popular guidebooks, but we can be sure that its content will be integrated into the Zagat brand, which Google bought last year.
